33% of those surveyed in an urban public hospital met the criteria for having experienced Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS). 155 patients who reported smoking marijuana 20+ days a month were surveyed. Patients were classified as experiencing a phenomenon consistent with CHS if they: 1) reported smoking marijuana at least 20 days per month and 2) reported nausea/vomiting and 3) rated 'hot showers' as five or more on the ten-point symptom relief method for nausea and vomiting. The abstract concludes that if this data can be extrapolated to the general public, approximately 2.75 million Americans may be suffering from a syndrome consistent with CHS.
