THC: The Human Cost

ABC news investigated the human toll of illegal marijuana grows for a year. The reporter shines light on the horrific conditions imposed upon workers at the illegal cannabis farms in Oregon where they were forced to work long hours, denied the right to leave, threatened at gunpoint, had no or insufficient bathrooms, no beds and were unable to contact help. Human trafficking, sex trafficking, and violence are noted activities associated with these illegal grows. The Homeland Security Investigator for the Pacific Northwest and a local resident both confirmed the term "narcoslaves" was appropriate to identify the manner in which farm workers are being treated.
